- About the Kodak DCS Filter
-
- The Kodak DCS filter allows Cumulus to catalog image files stored in the Professional
- Digital Camera (PDC) Format by Kodak. This format is generated by Kodak's (and compatible)
- digital cameras of the following type:
-
- DCS410, DCS420, EOS-DCS1, EOS-DCS3, EOS-DCS5, DCS460, DCS465, NC2000,
- DCS560, DCS520, EOS-D2000 and DCS315.
-
- This filter, version 4.0.1, is a follow up version to the old Kodak DCS Filter,
- version 2.5. The newest version 4.0.1 relies on Kodak's Professional Camera
- Libraries to generate Thumbnails, Previews and to retrieve all additional information.
-
- Type specific information are not show with an Additional Information dialog.
-
- You can setup the filter to catalog additional information to appear either in the Notes
- field or as Categories. This is done in the following setup dialog.

- Additional Information: Images may have been stored with addional information as shown
- in the list of the setup dialog. You can select a field, say Capture Date, and choose from the
- buttons on the right of the list, "Not captured", "Captured as Notes" or "Captured as Categories".
- The letters to the left of the field indicate its usage. No letter means that the field is not
- captured. If the image has been stored with this information, it will be used as you selected.
- Clicking the "Default" button will reset your settings so that only the Camera Model is used
- as a Caetegory by Cumulus.
-
- Calibration File Folder: Some images (more precisely, the images shot with cameras of
- type DCS460, DCS465 and EOS-DCS1) require calibration files when a Thumbnail or Preview is
- to be generated. If the calibration file is not found a thumbnail may not be available. You may
- wish to setup a folder on your harddrive in which all your calibration files are stored. Then,
- acivate both check boxes "Use image folder" and "Use this folder". If you want to be sure that
- only your calibration files are used, deselect the first check box "Use image folder". This
- will ensure that the filter does not take the calibration files that may be located with the
- files you want to catalog.
-
- Known Problems:
- Ñ A problem occurs when filename extensions other than "tif", "wav" or "jpg" are used.
- In this case, assets cannot be cataloged.
-
- Ñ Another problem occurs when previewing a cataloged image or trying to generate
- the thumbnail from the entire image. The Kodak libraries' use of memory is rather
- intensive. Therefore, such a preview or thumbnail generation might fail, if the image
- is too large. You might want to increase the memory that Cumulus uses. (Press CMD+i on
- the Cumulus Application icon and change the maximum number to 12000KB, 18000KB
- or 24000KB depending on what your hardware allows.) This provides the filter with
- additional resources to process the entire image.
